How It Works
Your GPA is the weighted average of grade points. We multiply each course's credits by the grade point (A=4.0, B+=3.5, B=3.0, C+=2.5, C=2.0, D+=1.5, D=1.0, F=0), add them up, and divide by total credits.
Formula:
GPA = Σ(credits × grade_points) / Σ(credits)
Result is rounded to 2 decimal places.
Note: Scale editor lets you add letters or adjust points if your department uses variants.
Inputs Explained
- Course Name
- Optional field (useful for export/share). Enter the subject name for reference.
- Credits
- Number of credit hours for the course. Usually 1–4 credits (labs often 1–2).
- Grade
- Choose A/B+/B/C+/C/D+/D/F (or your custom letters). Each grade maps to points on the KFUPM 4-point scale.
- Options
- Include labs; exclude failed/withdrawn credits from denominator per your handbook; treat IP as 0 points.
- Advanced
- Edit grade scale, import/export CSV, share link, and reset to KFUPM defaults.
Example Calculation
Let's calculate GPA for a typical KFUPM semester with 5 courses:
| Course | Credits | Grade | Points | Credit × Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calculus I | 4 | A (4.0) | 4.0 | 16.0 |
| Physics I | 4 | B (3.0) | 3.0 | 12.0 |
| Programming Lab | 1 | B+ (3.5) | 3.5 | 3.5 |
| Statics | 3 | C+ (2.5) | 2.5 | 7.5 |
| Humanities | 2 | C (2.0) | 2.0 | 4.0 |
| Total | 14 | — | — | 43.0 |
Calculation: GPA = 43.0 ÷ 14 = 3.07
Tips & Notes
- Always confirm grade mappings: Check your KFUPM department handbook for official grade mappings and repeat/withdraw policies.
- If you retake a course: Some rules replace the older grade—enter the attempt that counts. Verify with your academic office.
- Use Export/Share: Save your plan and test "what‑if" scenarios. The calculator doesn't store data permanently.
- Lab courses: Lab courses typically carry 1.5 to 2 credits. Enable the "Include Labs" option to quickly add lab course rows.
- Custom scenarios: Use Advanced options to modify the grade scale if your department follows a different point system.

No. It's an informational tool. Always verify with KFUPM official documents.
KFUPM uses a 4-point scale: A=4.0, B+=3.5, B=3.0, C+=2.5, C=2.0, D+=1.5, D=1.0, F=0. Some departments may use variations—check with your college.
Enter each course's credit hours and grade. The calculator multiplies credits by grade points for each course, sums them up, and divides by total credits to give your semester GPA (SGPA).
