How it works

IVA is a percentage of the price. If you know the gross amount (including IVA), we extract IVA using: IVA = Gross × Rate / (1 + Rate). If you know the net amount (excluding IVA), we compute IVA = Net × Rate. Optional RE is applied to the taxable base before IVA.

IVA Rate: Dropdown with common Spanish rates (21% General, 10% Reduced, 4% Super-reduced, 0% Exempt) or Custom. RE: Optional Recargo de Equivalencia (default 5.2%). Amount mode: Gross (inclusive) or Net (exclusive). Amount: The value to calculate. Rounding: Decimal places for results. Currency: Default EUR (Euro).

Example

Example 1: Gross 121 EUR, IVA 21%, RE OFF

  • IVA = 121 × 0.21 / 1.21 = 21.00 EUR
  • Net = 100.00 EUR
  • Effective rate = (21 / 121) × 100 = 17.36%

Example 2: Gross 121 EUR, IVA 21%, RE 5.2%

  • Taxable base = 121 / 1.21 = 100 EUR
  • RE = 100 × 0.052 = 5.20 EUR
  • IVA = 100 × 0.21 = 21.00 EUR
  • Total tax = 26.20 EUR
  • Net = 121 - 26.20 = 94.80 EUR
  • Effective rate = (26.20 / 121) × 100 = 21.65%
