How it works

Required Flow Rate = Pond Volume × Turnover Rate. Total Head = Vertical Lift + Friction Loss + Filter Head. Pump Power = (Flow × Head × 9.81) / 3600 / Efficiency (simplified to Flow × Head × 0.0027 at 70% efficiency). We use a simplified friction loss approximation.

Example

Pond 15,000 L (15 m³), Turnover 1.5×/h → Flow = 15,000 × 1.5 = 22,500 L/h. Pipe 25 mm, 5 m, Lift 1 m, Filter 1 m → Head ≈ 1 + 0.5 + 1 = 2.5 m → Power ≈ 22,500 × 2.5 × 0.0027 ≈ 152 W.
