How It Works

SSC exams use different marking schemes. This tool lets you set marks per correct and the wrong-answer penalty (fractional or absolute). In the section-wise builder, we compute each section's raw, deduction, and net marks, then total them.

Normalization is complex and exam-specific; our helper shows standard transforms to understand the idea. Always follow the year's official notice.

Inputs Explained

  • Quick tab: enter Q, M, penalty r, and your correct/wrong/blank counts (blank auto-computed if you prefer).
  • Section-wise: add sections like Quant, Reasoning, English, GK, Computer; set Q/M/r, and include/exclude qualifying sections.
  • Normalization: enter your shift stats (mean/SD) and a target reference to see an educationally normalized score.

Example

Quick (CHSL style): Q=100, M=2, r=0.50; C=70, W=22 → Raw=140, Deduction=11 → Net=129/200 → 64.5%

Section-wise (CPO sample):

  • GK: Q=50, M=1, r=0.25; C=32, W=13 → Net=32 − 3.25 = 28.75
  • Reasoning: Q=50, M=1, r=0.25; C=35, W=12 → Net=35 − 3 = 32.00
  • Quant: Q=50, M=1, r=0.25; C=30, W=15 → Net=30 − 3.75 = 26.25
  • English: Q=50, M=1, r=0.25; C=31, W=10 → Net=31 − 2.5 = 28.5
  • Total = 115.5/200 → 57.8%

Tips & Notes

  • Marking pattern can change. Verify the scheme in your year's SSC notification.
  • Always check if any section is qualifying only; leave "Include in total" off for those.
  • Ratio entry (like 1/4) is parsed to decimal automatically.
