⚠️ Educational only: SSC uses its own normalization method. This helper applies standard transforms for learning purposes.

How It Works

Tier 1 defaults to +2 per correct and −0.5 per wrong (no penalty for blanks). Tier 2 uses sections with editable marks and penalties. We compute per-section net marks and totals. The optional normalization helper applies a z-score or min-max transform for education only—the SSC uses its own method.

Inputs Explained

  • Tier 1: total questions, marks per correct, penalty per wrong, correct, wrong, blanks (auto).
  • Tier 2: add sections (Quant, Reasoning, English, GK, Computer), set Q/M/penalty, include or exclude qualifying sections.
  • Normalization: enter your shift's mean/SD and a reference mean/SD to see an approximate normalized score.

Example

Tier 1: Q=100, M=2, r=0.5, C=68, W=20 → Raw=136, Deduction=10 → Net=126/200 → 63.0%

Tier 2: Math (30Q, +3, −1): C=20, W=6 → 54; Reasoning (30Q): C=22, W=5 → 61; English (45Q): C=33, W=7 → 92; GK (25Q): C=15, W=6 → 39. Total: 246/390 ≈ 63.1%

Tips & Notes

  • Patterns change; always use the current official marking scheme.
  • Qualifying tests (e.g., Computer/DEST) may not add to total—leave them unchecked or set "Include in total" OFF.
  • Normalization is complex and conducted by SSC; our helper is only for learning how standard transforms work.

FAQs

Many cycles use −0.5 per wrong. Edit the penalty to match your session.

Yes. Use the section table to add/remove sections and edit Q/M/penalty. You can also save/load your preset.

Typically, blanks do not affect marks. The calculator computes blanks automatically if you leave B empty.

No. The helper uses standard transforms (z-score/min-max) for education only. SSC's method may differ.
